About Me

You can call me Shelby, or any variation of that.

I work as a pharmacy dispensing assistant, and am a future pharmacist-to-be!

I have a keen eye for art and I love to paint, make cards, and am an enthusiastic collector of washi tape. My favorite season is summer for I love the beauty and photogenic moments captured among the trees and the flowers. I have an affinity for writing and am an amateur photographer.

I love to dye my hair bright colors and wear funky clothes, and am currently going on 90-years old with my passionate love of knitting and crocheting.

I've struggled with severe mental illness for four years now, ever since I was attacked in secondary school. I was left with crippling Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and began suffering with self harm and psychosis. Eventually my condition became so bad that I had to be admitted to a psychiatric intensive care unit. Since then, I have been in several hospitals and was finally discharged off of a section 3 of the Mental Health Act in February 2016.

I also live daily with brittle asthma and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome type 3, amongst other co-morbidities.

I'm writing this blog to share my experiences with the world and to raise awareness around mental health illness. We are not here to be labelled and stigmatized. We are normal human beings trying to live normal lives and get better. I hope that my experiences can bring hope and inspiration to others.
